Salim Goldberg started in timeshare the way everyone does: on the phones, selling. The surprise came when he started helping the people around him sell. Coaching lit him up in a way closing never did. The company noticed, moved him into training full time, and he turned out to be exceptional at it.

How good? His trainees kept landing in the company’s highest sales honor, the tier reserved for the top 100 salespeople in the world. Many of them. One of the people he taught along the way was a young closer named Obada Alsalhani. Yes, that one. The founder of this agency learned in Salim’s classroom before there was an agency.
A fire pit changed his life.
Years later, Salim was scrolling and saw something on Obada’s social media: Checkmate agents traveling, posted up at a beautiful hotel, outside by a fire pit and a pool, and still closing deals. Still getting paid. The work he loved, without the walls. He could not unsee it.
He bet the credit cards.
Leaving was not a casual decision. He had kids. He had a safe seat at the top of his profession. He took the risk anyway, floated the leap on credit cards, and joined Checkmate as an agent. He did well on the phones. And exactly like the first time, he could not stop coaching the people around him. He started hosting morning training sessions on his own, simply because it was still his passion.
The best part of sales was never my number. It was watching somebody hit theirs for the first time.
Now every agent starts with him.
Today that passion is the official job. Salim hosts the training class every new Checkmate recruit attends, runs it bimonthly, and wrote all of the curriculum himself. He helped develop the agency’s IUL program. And he supports every agent in the building, no matter how big or small, the same way he always has: like their win is his win.
